It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, stressed and anxious sometimes – these can be normal human reactions.
Practising mindfulness can help you to become more aware of your feelings, thoughts and sensations. Noticing your experience can help you respond to what’s happening with a clearer sense of what’s needed to reduce stress and anxiety.
Mindfulness
Be mindful of what you have control over
We might not be able to change some of the things that are happening in our lives, but we can practice how we respond to our experience. A simple way to be mindful is to stop what we are doing for a moment, take three deep breaths and notice what’s going on for us (feelings, thoughts, sensations). Once we notice what’s happening and what we might need, we can take kind action to help ourselves.
The below videos have been put together to support adults and children to practice basic mindfulness techniques.
