Reconciliation Action Plan
Reconciliation is about building relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Aboriginal peoples, with the understanding of the histories that have damaged race relations.
As an agency, we recognise that reconciliation is an essential and ongoing journey for all Australians. Reconciliation is key to Wellbeing SA’s commitment to achieve equality and equity for Aboriginal people and to support the cultural, physical, mental and social wellbeing of Aboriginal people in South Australia.
Taking action to reduce disparities in health and wellbeing outcomes for all South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a strategic priority for Wellbeing SA and to achieve this, we have a dedicated Aboriginal workforce to lead this important work, striving to ensure it is supported by a culturally safe workplace.
This Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan is an opportunity to formalise our commitment to support the national reconciliation movement and move forward on this journey together.
It outlines the deliverables that we, as an agency, have committed to in order to play our part as a government agency to build positive and respectful relationships with the South Australian Aboriginal community. Included in this, is identifying and implementing actions that are respectful to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander beliefs, cultures, as well as supporting self determination and equity within the health system.
